AJ Invitation league produces high scoring matches

Vikrant Shetty and Shabbar Naazi hammered fluent half-centuries to guide Eurocon Alubond to a fine 32-run victory over Gyan Steel in a high-scoring match of the 17th AJ Invitation League Tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at Al Dhaid Cricket Village.

In other matches, Jotun Paints defeated Rapco CC by six wickets, Phoenix Medicines got the better of Universal Steel by 49 runs while Ibsons CC accounted for Al Barraq CC by 12 runs.
Vikrant scored an unbeaten 61 and Naazi chipped with a 59 to propel Eurocon Alubdond to a healthy score of 231 for six in the allotted 20 overs. Ansar Butt and Amir took two wickets each, but they failed to prevent Eurocon from seizing the early initiative.
Gyan Steel, in reply, staged a good fight-back, but still came up very short. Fahad Usman led their batting charge with a blistering 68, but failed to provide the finishing touch. Kashif (38) and Ansar (21) were the other main scorers.
Jotun Paints rode on a fine batting performance by Nitin Bharatan (82) and Bilal Murtaza (55) to see off the Rapco CC challenge with 13 balls to spare. Rapco, batting first, scored 203 before being all out. Sohail top-scoed with 45.
