UAE children learn techniques the United way at Manchester United Soccer Schools Abu Dhabi

Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) in Abu Dhabi has announced a new summer programme will take place in the one-of-a-kind indoor air conditioned football facility the Dome@Rawdhat.

The four one-week intensive courses will start on 3 July and run from Sunday to Wednesday with each day themed around a different technical area of the game.  Children aged seven to 16 will learn football skills and techniques the United way as used by the first team players.

In signature MUSS style, every coaching session will use the current crop of Manchester United first team players, now English Premier League Champions for a 19th season, as the inspiration and model examples from which the children can learn and develop themselves both on and off the pitch.

“This is a great opportunity to keep kids active and stimulated during the summer,” said Andy Dixon, head coach at Manchester United Soccer Schools in Abu Dhabi.   It’s great that we can conduct summer courses in our indoor facility and provide the opportunity for the children to continue their development with Manchester United Soccer Schools all year round.”

The first day of the course will focus on mastering short passing skills while day two will teach dribbling skills and on day three the children will learn to control and create the United way.  The four-day course will culminate in an exciting ‘Play Like Champions’ tournament where the footballers will be able to put their newly honed skills to the test in a series of small sided  matches.

For the first time ever in the UAE, one week will be dedicated to learning goalkeeping skills, in which coaches from Manchester will fly to Abu Dhabi specifically to train and teach the children.

All players enrolled in the summer programme will take part in the MUSS series of skills challenges, in which the highest point scorer of the summer will win a free place on the MUSS 10-week programme starting in October 2011.

Abu Dhabi based developer Reem Investments, which signed a partnership agreement with MUSS, built the Dome@Rawdhat in order to create a vibrant sporting community in the area.
