Mohammed Ben Sulayem to attend World Motor Sport Council meeting

Mr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, Vice President of the FIA and President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates (ATCUAE) will be attending the next meeting of the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) in Spain later this week, on June 3, 2011.

 

The WMSC that is the most powerful body of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) meets four times a year to consider proposals from specialist FIA Commissions and decides on rules and regulations for the FIA’s various racing series. Its membership is chosen by the FIA General Assembly, which contains representatives from national automobile clubs (ASNs) throughout the world. It has a current membership of 26, including FIA Vice President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

In this opportunity the Council will meet in Barcelona Spain and over a very busy agenda the world’s maximum motor sports authorities will discuss and decide many diverse topics.

 

Some of the subjects that will be talked over next Friday are the new engine regulations, the Formula One calendar until the end of the season and the future of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

 

This WMSC meeting will also consider the future of the World Rally Championship and will welcome the presentation of the governance and activities of the FIM, the Motorcycles International Federation. Mr. Ben Sulayem who is looking forward to promoting closer cooperation between FIA and FIM the two World Governing Bodies expressed; “I have always stimulated this approach and I believe that a greater cooperation between FIA and FIM would be very positive for motor sports all over the world. In the same line I’m very proud to say that ATC have represented both worlds’ Federations in the UAE for a long time. Greater cooperation means greater sports.”
