With a view to encourage as many amateur female athletes to take part in their inaugural event, Abu Dhabi Corporate Games 2012 organisers have today announced that Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy will become the official main sponsor of the “Ladies-Only” event programme, running parallel to the main events on 23-24 November.

The Abu Dhabi-based sports academy, which is also responsible for organising the annual International Abu Dhabi Conference on Women's Sports, has also expressed intention to enter teams into each sport in addition to their sponsorship support.

The women-only event schedule will focus on the three most popular sports, played by women, in the region: Basketball, Soccer, and Volleyball. Both Zayed University and The Dome @ Rawdhat will serve as the two main venues for these events. The main, mixed-gender, event will offer 17 different sports for entrants and will be based at separate locations around the capital, with the majority of events held at Zayed Sports City.

Welcoming the partnership, a statement issued by the Management Board of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, said:

“Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sport Academy is delighted to be a main sponsor and also key player in providing participants at the Abu Dhabi Corporate Games 2012 – Ladies Only Events. The organisers’ philosophy of ‘participation for all’ is a mutual one shared by the Academy, as we are deeply committed to encouraging aspiring, female athletes in the region; the Abu Dhabi Corporate Games 2012, therefore, offers another excellent platform for showcasing women’s sport.”

“Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies’ Sports Academy’s support and participation will surely add hundreds of additional participants to the growing numbers we already have signed up for the Ladies-Only event. We are, therefore, delighted to enjoy their support and participation,” said CEO of Abu Dhabi Corporate Games 2012, Fanny Marcout.

Earlier this year, the Games organisers also forged links with the Women’s Sport Department, of Sharjah Ladies Club, who have previously and successfully organised major women-only sporting events, in the UAE, like the “GCC Women’s Games” and the recent “Arab Women’s Sport Tournament 2012,” in February. They too, will be offering various support and participants for the events, with participants also expected from Abu Dhabi Women’s College and Zayed University.
