Dubai Sports City and global sports brand PUMA have teamed up in an agreement that will see Spanish Soccer Schools (SSS) students wearing bespoke PUMA football kits for the new term.
Juniors at the SSS will now be wearing the same brand as two of Europe’s leading club sides, Arsenal Football Club and Borussia Dortmund, as well as Manchester City star Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli, Liverpool’s summer signing, and Spanish players Cesc Fabregas, Mikel Arteta and Santiago Cazorla.
SSS at Dubai Sports City is just starting its second year of operation and the agreement with PUMA is the perfect beginning to the term.
Overseen by former Real Madrid and Spain legend Michel Salgado, Dubai Sports City’s Director of Football, SSS coached more than 700 children to play the Spanish way in 2013/14 with one of its pupils signed up by French Ligue 1 club Nantes.
Such has been the success of SSS that in 2014/15 it has expanded to include coaching sessions at the prestigious Repton School in Dubai and is also launching a nationwide junior league for teams from across the United Arab Emirates.
Commenting on the agreement between Dubai Sports City and PUMA, Dubai Sports City Football Academy Manager Inaki Beni said: “To be on board with PUMA, a global brand of the very highest class, is exceptionally exciting for us and we believe it speaks volumes for what we are doing at Spanish Soccer Schools.
“We have what are surely the best facilities in the region with grass and artificial pitches indoors and outdoors and we have outstanding coaching to take advantage of those facilities.
“And now we have world-class clothing for the children to wear too. It is the perfect combination.”
Abdelhamid Oraibi, PUMA's Head of Marketing for Middle East and East Africa, said: “PUMA is one of the world’s leading Sports Brands – and for over 65 years, has established a history of making fast product designs for the fastest athletes on the planet.
“We are proud to have teamed up with Dubai Sports City and the Spanish Soccer Schools as the official kit provider, with a unique exclusively-designed shirt. Globally, PUMA works with international football stars, including Spanish players such as Cesc Fabregas, Mikel Arteta and Santiago Cazorla, so we are now looking forward to seeing the star players of the future beginning their football careers in PUMA with the Spanish Soccer Schools!”

Inaki Beni added: “We offer children the chance to learn and play the Spanish way, with unity, passion and skill, and the fact more than 700 children came to us in our first year of operation shows we are doing the right things.
“The success we had then will continue this year with our expansion to Repton School in Dubai and the creation of our groundbreaking national junior league, and this agreement with PUMA will help to ensure we become stronger still by giving our children high quality performance apparel in which to play.”
The Official Sponsors of the Dubai Sports City Football Academy are Kellogg’s, Etihad, Pepsi, Dubai Eye 103.8 FM and PUMA.
Dubai Sports City General Manager – Sports Business Mr Maqbul Dudhia said: “This agreement between Dubai Sports City and PUMA is another indication that we are going from strength to strength.
“To be associated with one of the world’s leading sports brands, and which has not only a massive profile within football but is also endorsed by an athlete of the caliber of the World’s Fastest Man, Usain Bolt, shows how far we have come.
“We are immensely proud of this association with PUMA and we look forward to this agreement being the start of a long and fruitful partnership.”
Mr Dudhia added: “These are hugely exciting times at Dubai Sports City as not only do we have a flourishing Football Academy that is the home to Spanish Soccer Schools and Socatots, our scheme for children from walking age to five years old, as well as our corporate football league, but we also have a whole range of other sporting facilities and activities too.
“There is the ICC Academy, the Butch Harmon School of Golf and The Els Club championship golf course, plus outstanding facilities to play anything from American and Australian Rules Football through to rugby, tennis, netball, basketball and athletics.
“Our swimming academy and fitness suite will be opening imminently and next month the Dubai International Stadium will be playing host to cricket action between Pakistan and Australia.
“And all that is on top of the rapid development of real estate within Dubai Sports City, alongside well-established and hugely popular locations such as Victory Heights and Canal Residence West.
“We offer the chance for people to get fit or stay fit in comfortable surroundings and really enjoy the very best of what Dubai has to offer from a sporting and lifestyle perspective.”
